How is a Dental Crown fitted?

The existing tooth which is damaged, weakened or fractured is repaired with a dental crown. Any decay is removed. The tooth is reshaped, and an impression is taken, which is sent to a dental laboratory to fabricate the crown. You will have a temporary crown while the lab tech works on the final crown. The crown fits like a cap over the newly shaped tooth and is cemented or bonded into position, thereby restoring the tooth structure.
